QAYG-- Quilt as you go. A technique to quilt large quilts in pieces on a home machine.
SID-- Stitch in the Ditch. Quilting technique that follows piecing seams, either on top of them (in the ditch) or very near to the seam.FMQ-- Free Motion Quilting. Quilting without computer or other tools to guide needle. Meander or wandering in a large continuous path around quilt, no pattern. Stippling is the same but small curves. Feathers, stars, heart, and other designs may also be FMQ.
PIG--project in grocery bag. Also known as aging a project or project in time out. Sometimes a project just needs time to mature or I need time to figure out a problem.

2021 Rose trellis. During much of the COVID-19Pandemic lock down a small group of intrepid quilters met at our decrepit mall community room once a week. This was one result. Of course, it's been hanging over the loft for months waiting for me to gather the courage to quilt it.
2021 November 8 The Princess and the Pea
2021 I found these stars at Scraps and Skeins. They were orphans so I put them together with a cheater cloth backing and quilted it myself. It went to Brooksville, Maine to keep Kim and Craig warm on their pond.
2021 Lilly asked for help making a gift for her neighbor Melissa whos second and last son was leaving for college. She would be very sad and lonely but since sunflowers make her happy, the quilt theme should be sunflowers.

Then COVID19 hit. The death rate remains about 3% but we have been locked down by the Governor, told to stay inside except for essential activities like shopping (like shopping is essential, really?) but not for hard liquor as the State Stores were closed, beauty shops, gyms, and spas were also. Grocery stores including Walmart were open but had limits on some products (like toilet paper, all sanitizers, and rubbing alcohol) and most restaurants were closed for a time except for curbside and home delivery. Stay away from everyone, 6' at least. Wear masks to cover nose and mouth, although many people wear them as beard covers on their chin. Closed schools, then reopen on-line only. I made a few masks for family members, but lots of quilters made thousands. So COVID gets credit for a lot of quilt-making in 2020.

2019 Friendship star double wreath for Carolyn Conrath (eventually--it's not quilted yet) I made a single wreath for Sue Krum but don't have a picture of it.

2018 December Lilly's Frozen-- She can dance the whole movie so of course when I found a Frozen panel at Frye's, I knew she needs a Frozen quilt. She sewed the strips and we had most of the top done by the time she had to leave. She has a nice 1/4" seam, accurate and careful. I enjoyed sewing with her. I quilted it by drawing over the panel like a coloring book and FMQ the borders.
