When I lived in Hawaii, a loooooooooooong time ago and before it was a state, we had them growing on our sea wall in profusion. My horticulturist grandparents came to visit from half a world away. The night before they left, my grandfather went outside in the rain to photograph the bloom. He had to go in the nude because my grandmother wouldn't let him get his clothes wet. That has become one of Those Family Stories told and retold to the shock and awe of the new generation.
I've had this lovely lady for 4 years; she started as a leaf cutting and has grown to her first flower tonight.
