December 22, 2003 we stapled a few posted signs on easily accessible and visible trees. We were still visitors with only planes, rental cars, and hotel rooms, but the Barony was ours. Wouldn't you know it: of all weekends to visit, this is winter graduation at Penn State. Hotels are triple their regular fare, and hard to come by at that. Luckily the Holiday Inn, Milesberg, doesn't gouge travelers for wandering on special weekends. Unfortunately, it's one of the older Holiday Inns. Note to secretary: put all PSU graduations, move-in dates, and football games on the calendar.
Our proposed house site is at the top of the road where it joins the loggers' trail but protected from the north winds by 100 feet of hillside and trees. We'll put the carriage house across the drive at the opening near the last curve up the hill, just as Lady Terra envisioned. The septic area will be in the meadow just above the shelf. We want to protect our view from encoaching humanity as much as possible so we'll face south into the trees. We'll see a bit of our meadow to the west, but mostly it will be a little house in the woods. We have mailed in the Clean and Green paperwork to help with taxes.
