Not just for veterans, but I'm remembering Dad, Holly, and Annie, especially on this beautiful, cloudless, but hot (87 deg), unofficial day of summer.
We were just finishing dinner when motion out the window caught my eye. It was a pair of Brown Thrashers, perhaps: larger than a robin, rufous back, spotted or barred belly, long tail. They didn't hang around long enough to get a good look, of course.
