Dormers

The push today was to take advantage of the balmy 25 degree weather and complete the dormer panel installation and then the final roof panels on the peak over the front bump out.  The panels on the dormer needed some fine tuning in the form of adjusting the bevel on the panel edges to fit.  The dormers are now essentially finished and about half of the peak roof panels are in.

With the crane doing all the heavy lifting of the long roof panels yesterday, it was up to the crew today to work the smaller pieces of the two dormers using only the forklift. There are more angles on these pieces so precise fitting is required. The front and sides of the dormers are up and the first section of the dormer roof on the left side dormer is in place. Besides finishing the roof of this dormer and installing the right side dormer's roof, there are some panels that will go on the peak that extends out between the dormers over the front living room bump-out.

To celebrate the panels on the roof we had an indoor pizza lunch from Faccia Luna.  It was nice to have a reason to come home for lunch!  Weather today was in the upper 20s and there is snow forecast for tonight, possibly 1-3 inches. Bring on the January thaw!

We had a beautiful red sky at morning;  I guess it's a good thing there are no sailors or shepherds around to heed that warning.

The Crew started on the dormers.  They are paneled, not stick built.  Tonight when we got home from a dinner, we could see the front (window and door) bump out paneled and the face of the dormers installed. With a high near 30 and mostly sun, it was a much better day to work.
The boys did well in the car waiting for us; they were both warming our seats when we finished dinner. Evenings seem to be more comfortable for Buddy.  He can't see the chickens or squirrels out the windows.  He was very nervous all afternoon and paced and whined.  His 7AM before breakfast walk was great.  He kept his mind on his business.  The 10AM walk was awful:  if I hadn't had ice cleats on I'd have been on my face dragged toward the chickens.  I had a few errands to do in town so I added Wiscoy to the list for an easy walker harness.  This is the kind that flipped the Newfie in Gambol's obedience class.  I got a large which he slipped is leg out of so we went back for a medium (and oh, by the way stopped at Otto's.)  I think it is going to work.  Our 2:00 PM walk was much better, even with the misfitting harness.
