This was a tough week for the liver boy. He came up with a hotspot last Sunday which his vet saw on Monday. Antibiotics, some Benedryl, and a shave took care of it. The spot is crusty, not oozing and hair is growing back. It's ugly but doesn't bother him.
Since Paul is on an extended brothers' weekend in Florida, I have doggy duty. Thursday was fine. Kilos was short half his exercise minutes, but they all took their regular nightly routine.
We went on 2 walks before I went to work on Friday. I came home for a lunch walk. Kilo took a 30 minute walk-about. I TAGGed him at Ron and Darlene's on the RTV. He wasn't happy.
I got home about 5:30 to a bloody Jupiter and a limping Kilo. Kilo wouldn't go out, so I put his blanket on the garage floor and cleaned up Jupiter. I couldn't find any damage so it must have been Kilo's blood. Jupiter spent some time in the basement while I sorted out the rest. Gambol wasn't hurt or bloody, and Buddy had spent the afternoon in the house.
Kilo was stretched out on the blanket, immobile. I cleaned up what I could but he whimpered every time I touched him. Right ear and left leg bothered him the most. He wouldn't eat or drink. I covered him with a warm blanket and let him sleep, checking in on him every few hours. At midnight, I gave him a baby aspirin and some water. 3:00 am some more water and a few kibble bits; he had moved a bit. At 7;00 he was curled in his normal resting position. I breathed a sigh of relief as he hobbled out to pee. Just before we left for the vet, Gambol flushed a mouse which Kilo caught. He's going to be OK.
TAGG to the rescue for the second time today. His activity monitor showed a spike at about 5:00, so that must have been when the fight occurred.
We saw the vet at 10:15; Kilo got another shave, a more thorough cleaning, and some pain meds. He stood all the poking and prodding like a champ that he is.
Jupiter spent this time in his crate. No second chances for you, Mister.
