After a long delay in delivery, probably due to the availability of compost at the University Area Joint Authority in July, Maxwell Trucking brought 20 cubic yards of compost yesterday morning. The driver drove the truck out into the meadow to dump the compost in the middle of the area where we had the bare mineral soil from our house's excavation. Eventually we plan to have the compost spread out over the mineral soil and then disked or plowed to mix it together. Based on the productivity of our backyard garden where we have used the compost to supplement the bare soil there, mixing in the compost should really improve the meadow especially where we had spread the mineral soil.
