Fall beauty

Even with the misty mountains in the background, our trees are a conflagration:  fiery dogwoods, blazing golden ash, sassafras, and hickory, maples of all shades, and oaks with edges of red, yet still some green to give my eyes a rest.
Buddy and Gambol in their camouflage.  It's a good thing they have some white for fall and some brown for winter!

This morning after breakfast Paul headed out to walk the dogs. Gambol refused to go with him until I came along.  I love my dog and he loves me (or my Pez-dispenser-like treat bag).  Buddy and Gambol can work together now that Buddy is free to follow or horn in on Gambol's smell-find.  It's fun to watch them chase each other around the middle meadow.
Paul picked his first ever apple,Fuji Morning Mist, the first of 5 (we hope) this year.  It was crisp and moderately sweet, red and round, but a bug had gotten into the core. That's a problem we'll have to live with in our no-spray program.
Trees are turning yellow.  It's been hot and dry until this week when we finally got some rain. It seems early for color, but the orchards are telling us that all their fruit is ripening early.  Bushes by the chicken coop are bright red.
After cleaning out the garage a bit, moving things around and to the basement, Paul hooked up the weave poles in the basement.  Gambol remembers; Buddy is learning.  They had fun pushing each other out of the way to get to the liver treats.
