Robinson came up to clean out the tank for the first time.  We didn't really know where it was buried and of course it was snowing.  Now we know. The daffodils under the bird feeder will need renovating next fall.

Septic problems

Sort of a problem just popped up this morning. I called Robinson (355-4474)to ask about them coming up to service our septic system (septic and dosing tanks). They said we have to expose the concrete tops of both tanks before they come up to do the servicing. I went out and of course the dosing tank at the base of the sand mound is exposed, but nothing for the septic tank which is near the bird feeder/bird bath. I called back and asked if someone could show me where to look for it. A guy came with the big sucker tank and said the tank is just behind the flower garden near the bird bath and showed me where the tops should be. I got a shovel and started digging and sure enough the lid was only about a foot below the surface but the lid’s edge was broken and the top is now wedged part way down the throat of the tank. I called them about that and they said it does happen pretty frequently and they fix and bring a new lid. We might also get an extension to the opening so that the lid is up on the surface. It is wedged pretty firmly and so it shouldn’t be too much of a problem to get some hooks on it when they come out to suck on Friday. I will put some plywood over the hole to keep things out of it.
