Dwayne wired the heater in and in a few hours we will have hot water. Two problems in 5 years was enough to call it quits on the tankless water heater.  Even though it was a Bosch and they replaced the first one, we have enough crud in our water that precipitates out and gives us black water showers before it dies.   It's a small (40 gal) tank and fits in the mechanical room easily. He installed a throw switch to turn off the water heater when we don't need it running.  He also put in blank electrical boxes to cover the extra wires that went to the old tankless heater and the wires that went to the well pump that is now in the main house.
Jeff cut a hole in the basement wall and installed the pipe from the sump pump to the underground gutter drains and the sump is emptying into that now.  No more hand emptying the sump after a rain.  He still has to remove the anion from the heater in the house and then we can run the dish washer.  This has to do with the sulfur smell we've been getting.

Psycho: the movie

Remember when the walls of the shower were covered in dripping blood? Well, I didn't see blood, but it took me a minute to realize what I did see. I stepped into the shower, heard a "thunk" and the lights flashed. A moment later as I was about to dunk my head, a gray mudball splashed out of the showerhead onto the wall. I smelled mud, too. It took a couple of minutes for the water to become almost clear, but since I didn't know what was going on, I quickly rinsed off in pale gray chunky water and got out. Crisis? dry well? Of course! This was at 0600 so I went to work with visions of worst case 'no water for days' dancing in my head, and waited till 0800 to call Hull's Well Drilling. Keith came out, drained the storage tank which ran crystal clear, and decided that, Yep, it was a mudball. Fork over $50 please. (Better than $5000 for a new well.) It may have affected the hot water heater; I was only getting luke-cool dish washing water. That'll be another bummer for the morning shower.
