The girls have tails and the beginnings of combs. Their profile is that of an adult now. And just like teen people, some have minds of their own and some are willing to do what I ask. When I call them for bed, about half come to the door and allow me to put them in their tub. I tried cooked rice tonight thinking they might think the grains were ant eggs. The other half skitter-scatter but some eventually allow curiosity to get the better of them and I grab them. Meanwhile one in the tub jumped from the sawdust to the top of the food jar to the rim of the tub, then walked up my arm to sit on my shoulder.
Only one was a delinquent tonight. She screamed from the tractor for her sisters in the tub. She didn't want rice, wasn't even curious. She figured out where her sisters were so while I was busy with a parrot-wannabe she squeaked through the door and ran around me to the tub and back inside the tractor scream-peeping all the way. Finally I pulled a chick out of the tub and held her at the door. The contrary chick leaped through the door into my hands. Job done.
