More wildlife at the Barony (Lifer)

We headed out for our pre-lunch walk and all the dogs were headed down the driveway.  I noticed that Buddy and Kilo were over on the Daffodil-bed side of the drive. I saw a large turtle right at the edge of the road the object of their attention.  The turtle's shell was not like an Eastern Box Turtle so I figured it was a Snapping Turtle and yelled at the dogs to "Leave it."  By this time, the dogs were trying to sniff at the turtle and the turtle started snapping at them.  Buddy bolted away, but Kilo let out a yelp before he backed off.  Sure enough, it was a Snapping Turtle about 8 inches in diameter.  I rounded up the dogs, took them down to the fire pit, and then back to the house.  I grabbed a snow shovel and a bucket and planned to pick up the turtle and move it far away from the house and probably downhill as well.  Well, in the 10 minutes I was with the dogs, the turtle had disappeared.  I searched the Daffodil beds and into the forest, but no luck.  I got back inside and check out Kilo closely and he has a little cut on the left side of his nose where the turtle had nipped him.  No real damage, but I wonder if Kilo will want to bring us any more Eastern Box Turtles.  The way that both Buddy and Kilo approached the Snapping Turtle makes me think that the Snapper has a different scent.
This is a first for our hill.

We've also seen a hen turkey in the meadow and below the camping site fire pit, Eastern Black Rat Snakes around the house, a porcupine high in a dead tree on the west side of the house, flocks of geese overhead in the meadow, a fawn that Bailey flushed and the other dogs alerted, and the usual feeder birds.  It's a regular zoo around here in the spring.
